Position: Recreation Therapy Assistant
Position Status: Permanent Full Time 12:00-8:00pm (Evenings & Weekends)
Commencement of Position (approximately): ASAP
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Activation Techniques, Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Dementia Studies or equivalent from college or University.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a Long Term Care setting
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to follow direction and work in a team environment
- Knowledge of programming needs for older adults diagnosed with dementia
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Basic computer skills
- Italian Speaking is an asset
- Good attendance record required
Job Duties:
- Assist in the development of recreation and leisure services
- Implement the day to day programming needs of residents under the direct supervision of the Manager of Recreation and Volunteer Services
- Assist in the completion and posting of monthly calendars outlining programs and services available to residents and families
- Assist with outings and Special Events
- Assist in the coordination of external groups to provide in house programs
- Participation in necessary committee structures related to resident care and services
- Completion of documentation required by the facility and regulatory bodies
- Participate in all mandatory in-services provided by the facility
- Participate in the facility’s quality management and risk management program
- All other duties assigned.
Wage Rate: As per the Collective Agreement Wage Grid
Work Schedule: Permanent Full Time 12:00-8:00pm (Days, Evenings, & Weekends)
